NSW dominates National Building & Construction Awards

New South Wales building and construction businesses dominated at the 2022 National Excellence in Building and Construction Awards claiming 14 of the 51 categories.

The awards, returning to its normal face-to-face format after several years of disruption from COVID-19 and hosted in the state’s very own Hunter Valley region, provided an opportunity to celebrate the building and construction industry’s best and brightest.

Master Builders CEO Denita Wawn said the annual three-day event culminates in the announcement of the country’s best builders in residential, commercial and civil construction and recognises the projects that have won them acclaim.

“To be in the running for a National Excellence Award, entrants must have progressed from winning awards in their State or Territory and must be nominated by their local Master Builders Association to being judged for a national award,” Ms Wawn said.

Master Builder Association of NSW Executive Director Brian Seidler applauded the winners and finalists for reaching this highly competitive stage.

Multiplex Constructions took out the top spot winning the National Construction Master Builder of the Year Award for their work on the world’s first upcycled skyscraper here in NSW.

“The 50-storey Quay Quarter Tower is the catalyst for the transformation of Sydney's iconic Circular Quay, supporting Sydney's future as green, global and connected city.

Multiplex was required to overcome key construction challenges of building movement, complex demolition and strengthening works, large cantilevered elements, and concurrent construction across multiple fronts,” said Mr Seidler.

Denita Wawn said the building and construction industry has demonstrated that in the face of adversity, it continues to provide the highest quality outcomes for clients around the country.
